Sometimes referred to as “liquid facelifts”, injectable dermal fillers visibly reduce signs of aging on the face without the high cost and long downtime associated with surgical procedures. Most dermal fillers work by augmenting the skin’s natural levels of hyaluronic acid (HA), either with organically-derived HA or a synthetic substitute. HA’s main function is to draw and hold water into the skin, ensuring plump, smooth, healthy skin. As we age, our HA levels decrease, leading to a number of aesthetic problems, including wrinkles, rough and uneven skin tone and texture, and a drawn, droopy appearance. Dermal fillers offer a safe, comfortable, speedy way to replace lost HA, rejuvenate your skin, and bring back a youthful, healthy glow to your face.
RADIESSE® is a prescription-only injectable filler that provides powerful anti-aging and rejuvenation effects in two key ways. First, it creates a natural scaffold under the skin to boost facial volume, providing immediate results. Second, it stimulates your body’s own collagen production, enabling the retention of moisture for longer-lasting, firm, soft, and plump skin. Although many dermal fillers offer one or the other of these two benefits, RADIESSE® is uniquely able to provide both simultaneously, and has been clinically proven to last a year or more in many patients.
Dermal fillers such as Radiesse® offer the benefit of immediately visible results, but these results are not permanent. Periodic follow-up treatments must be conducted to maintain optimal results. At Gentle Touch Aesthetics and Wellness in Los Gatos, California, our physicians offer a variety of effective, safe, and highly-respected dermal fillers for individuals seeking to reduce the signs of aging comfortably, quickly, and cost-effectively. They will work closely with you to discuss all your dermal filler options and help you select the ideal dermal filler, or combination of fillers, to achieve your optimal results.
RADIESSE® PROCEDURE DETAILS
Radiesse® is a non-hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler designed to add volume to the face, particularly in the temples, cheeks, and jawline where lost volume can be dramatic and additional contouring is often desired. Radiesse’s® active ingredient is calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA, an organic substance found in human bone tissue). CaHA is a water-based gel that will be naturally reabsorbed by the body after it has activated the production of natural collagen.
A typical RADIESSE® treatment can be performed in the office, usually in less than 20 minutes. In some cases, the RADIESSE® will be supplemented with lidocaine to minimize discomfort during and after the injection. Most patients will be able to resume their normal activities immediately after treatment. Typical side effects are generally mild and subside quickly, and can include minor swelling and bruising at the treatment site. The effects of the RADIESSE® treatment will be immediately noticeable, and will continue for six months to a year after your initial injections (results can be extended with periodic maintenance treatments).
